I grew up on a small farm in North Carolina and moved to the beautiful mountains and red rocks of Utah shortly after college. Art and design have always been a part of my life. As an avid sports fan, many of my childhood teams were decided by the logos and colors they wore. My favorite activities as a kid were drawing cartoons and painting on paper plates and sketchbooks. I love taking beautiful photos of trips, memories, and family. Using my skills and experience as a designer for programs that give back and do good in communities gives me purpose.

Every designer has their origin story on how they knew they wanted to be in a creative field (don't worry, there are no radioactive spider bites involved). Mine came from my grandpa, a tobacco farmer in a rural town who also curated their one and only art museum and theatre. He was my first introduction to art, shows, and beautifully illustrated books. I got my love of nature and animals from him, he showed me how to see the beauty in the details of simple things.

When I attended college at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, those early life lessons from my grandpa were present in all aspects of my college tenure. The artistic calculation of color theory, drawing from nature in my design, knowing when to stop for ice cream at the hot dog restaurant conveniently located between my dorm and the art building. UNCG is where I got my first real experience with art history and illustration. I discovered a love for photography, my favorite subjects being landscapes and nature. Rural North Carolina offered plenty of both.

Early in my corporate career, I worked with a Marketing genius who emphasized the importance of combining design with function and emotion. She taught me invaluable lessons about understanding "The Brand" - the end-user, the client, their goals. While I continue to expand on my experiences, I look for the opportunity to learn a new skill and embrace new challenges every day. I believe if you really listen, people will show you what they’re looking for, and you’ll always learn something that makes you better for knowing it.

Things I love.

  • Any Animal I've Ever Met

Whether it’s my dogs, my parents dogs, cats, horses, birds - I’ll pet almost anything that lets me.

  • Beautiful Travels, Beautiful Friends

I’m fortunate to have amazing friends that make excellent travel companions. I’m currently trying to see a new national park every year. Montana in the summer can’t be beat.

  • Go My Favorite Sports Team, Go

Season tickets to Utes football with Blake, watching the Jazz, Tarheels, or Panthers, cheering on my Hurricanes - sports are my favorite viewing activity.

  • Take a Photo, It Lasts Longer

I have one rule, every hike requires a camera. Not only do I love the cool breeze, green trees, and the quietness of the woods, but there is so much beauty in nature just waiting to be photographed.

  • Family is Everything

Growing up, my entire family lived on the same farm built by my great grandparents in small town Midway, North Carolina. Even though we’re a little more spread out now, the farm is always home base to come back together again. My mom makes me laugh and my dad makes great cornbread!

  • Home Is Where the Heart Is

There’s no better feeling than going home again - fresh air and family, sweet tea and shade trees, biscuits and barbecue. The farm is the perfect place to take a break.

“If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.”
